When I decided to start blogging about one of my favorite subjects (food!), I wasn't sure how I would be received in the foodie community and the rest of the blogosphere. Would I be lost in a sea of bloggers? Would it be hyper-competitive? Would I be eaten alive? The thought of jumping in was a little intimidating and I changed my mind a lot. A LOT. Until finally, I jumped in and wrote my first post almost a year ago.
What did I find when I joined the blogging community? I found an incredibly welcoming, supportive, friendly group of people from all over the world. I have become friends with some of the nicest people - many of whom I will probably never meet face-to-face (much to my great disappointment) and I look forward to each time I hear from one of them. I have never felt like I was competing with anyone. Instead, I learn from my fellow foodies and bloggers and comments my readers leave. I am encouraged to be better. And still be me. All at the same time. It has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.
Recently, I joined a fun group on Facebook for food bloggers: Foodie Friends Friday. It's a place where we all come together in support of one another and share delicious recipes, tips, techniques, advice . . . . and the list goes on. I knew many of the foodies who've joined the site and I look forward to meeting new members. If you are a foodie who would like to join the group, just click on this link: Foodie Friends Friday Group and request to join. If you're a fan of foodies and would like to check out some really great recipes, follow this link to the Facebook page: Foodie Friends Friday and this link for the website: Foodie Friends Friday. I hope to see you all there!
How Foodie Friends Friday works is each Friday we (the bloggers) select another group member to feature on our blog site. Pretty simple. Except there are so many fantastic members, it was hard to choose! Especially on my first post about Foodie Friends Friday! The foodie I'm featuring in my very first Foodie Friends Friday post is Nicola from Cookie's cakes and bakes!
Right off the bat, I knew Nicola and I had a lot in common when I learned she also likes to read cookbooks the way most people enjoy reading novels. And she, too, developed her love of cooking and baking from her grandmother. When you visit her website, you'll find recipes for wonderful dishes like . . . .

ReplyDeleteHello Kirsty! I'm so glad to have you visit me again! Doesn't Nicola (at Cookie's cakes and bakes) have some wonderful recipes? You'll have to stop by foodiefriendsfriday's Pinterest board and check out the other blogger's features. So many recipes, so little time!
DeleteWhat a neat idea! As I alluded to in my tweet - I love the social aspect of food blogging. I'd totally hop in on these Fridays if it weren't for the fact that I only manage a post or two a week (on a good week), I don't think I could keep it up on a weekly basis!
ReplyDeleteHi Sasha! Thanks for stopping by. I post just a couple of times each week, too. This post was really easy and quite enjoyable to write. I hope you'll join our group - I'm hoping to see you there! Either way, I'll still be dropping in on you from time-to-time! Have a great weekend!!
DeleteThat looks like a great idea. Next time I'm on FB I'll definitely check it out :)
